Today, we'll dive into the next thread of our series: an in-depth analysis of the camera's hardware, software, and the unique UI features that make the HONOR 200 Pro's camera stand out. So, without further ado, let's get started!
The Hardware Side 
On the rear, the device boasts a triple-camera setup featuring Dual OIS (Main + Telephoto) and an 8-wire SMA actuator. All three cameras are equipped with autofocus functionality.The Tripple Rear Camera Setup
- 50MP Portrait Main Camera with f/1.9 Aperture, the industry-leading 1/1.3-inch Super Dynamic H9000 sensor and OIS. This allows users to capture images with outstanding detail and improved brightness even in difficult lighting conditions.
- 50MP Telephoto Camera with Customized Sony IMX 856 Sensor and OIS. This telephoto camera provides a better light sensing capability, ensuring clear and precise captures of distant objects with exceptional detail, especially when utilizing the 2.5X optical zoom.
- 12MP Ultra-wide & Macro Camera featuring a f/2.2 aperture and an impressive 112° field of view. Additionally, with a minimum focusing distance of 2.5cm, the wide-angle lens also allows users to capture captivating close-up shots. This lens doesn't have OIS but has an autofocus functionality like the other two lenses.
Additionally, the HONOR 200 Pro features dual stabilization with OIS+EIS. With the 8-wire Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuator, which combines both autofocus (AF) and optical image stabilization (OIS) functionalities, the HONOR 200 Pro delivers industry-leading focus speed and enhanced accuracy in complex portrait scenarios. This ensures greater stability when capturing photos in low-light or fast-motion conditions. This feature also minimizes shaking and delivers incredibly smooth video footage, ensuring that fast-paced action moments are recorded with professional-looking stability.
Dual Front Camera and Sensor Support
- 50MP Portrait Selfie Camera with f/2.1 aperture that ensures Perfect Selfies. It also includes automatic field of view (FOV) switching between 1X and 0.8X, making it easy to capture effortless group selfies.
- 2MP Light and Colour Sensing Camera
The Software Side On the software side, HONOR is leading the way in camera technology. The HONOR 200 Series, in particular, sets a new standard with its advanced camera features, going beyond what's available on other devices. Thanks to this series for bringing studio-quality complex portrait shots to our fingertips.
- HONOR AI Portrait Engine - In simple terms, it's a highly trained AI that helps the camera use advanced algorithms to improve each shot. It carefully analyzes light and shadow conditions to optimize each shot for the best possible results. The AI Neutral Network for Image Processing is an AI algorithm on the HONOR AI Portrait Engine that determines the optimal exposure settings for capturing and adjusting the desired light and shadow, replicating the artistic lighting aesthetic upheld by Studio Harcourt. It also enhances facial details, ensuring that the subject stands out while maintaining a smooth transition between light and shadow.
- Harcourt Portrait Modes - HONOR 200 Pro revolutionizes portrait photography by collaborating with Studio Harcourt to co-engineer the AI-enhanced HONOR AI Portrait Engine. With meticulous analysis and optimization of image data in RAW formats, HONOR is unlocking the mastery of Studio Harcourt’s portrait photography on smartphones, bringing three bespoke professional portrait modes in the HONOR 200 Pro, namely - Harcourt Vibrant, Harcourt Color, and Harcourt Classic, - enabling users to capture portrait shots that truly reflect their unique style.
To capture pictures with the primary lens, the HONOR 200 Pro offers three premium photography profiles: Natural, Vibrant, and Authentic. In addition to these photo profiles, the device includes a wide range of filters, similar to other devices. AI Motion Sensing Capture and the Moving Photos
- AI Motion Sensing Capture: Known as "Highlights Capture," this feature utilizes AI high-speed shutter technology to intelligently capture dynamic moments, such as smiling, running, and jumping people, as well as cats and dogs. A dedicated icon on the main camera screen and in the settings let us turn this feature on or off easily.
- Moving Photo: This feature captures photos along with the motion of the subject, allowing us to preserve the movement within the image if the subject is in motion.
We’re all aware of HONOR's collaboration with Harcourt Studio, which has brought studio-level photography to our phones through the co-engineered AI-enhanced HONOR AI Portrait Engine. With this mode, we can capture excellent portraits in three different Harcourt Studio Portrait Art Styles, delivering professional-quality results right from our devices. In addition to the Harcourt styles, we also have the option to use normal photography filters with portrait modes if desired. Typically, smartphones offer only Portrait and Pro modes for depth adjustment in photos. However, the HONOR 200 Pro stands out with its unique "Aperture Mode," which allows users to precisely control the aperture, and the rest values like Exposer, ISO, WB, and other settings will get auto-adjusted accordingly. In the video tab, we have a dedicated option to turn on and off NOISE REDUCTION. This feature helps to cut background noise and focus on the subject's voice only. This results in a better output with clear vocals. Damn useful especially for vloggers who struggle with background noise while recording with a phone.Noise Reduction for Videos
The camera UI of 200 Pro has a special "Watermark" tab alongside the default camera setting once. This special tab allows users to capture images with different watermarks to reflect different moods or contexts. Ever get frustrated trying to keep a moving person in the frame while struggling with stability during recording? The HONOR Solo Cut feature solves that problem. In Solo Cut mode, the selected person is automatically tracked and centered during filming. With just a tap, you can switch the focus to anyone else in the scene. Not only does Solo Cut mode track your main subject, but it also remembers them. If they leave the frame and return, the camera will automatically resume tracking them. The best part is that you can use Solo Cut mode in both portrait and landscape orientations with the main camera.SOLO CUT
The Night Video feature is designed to enhance video quality in low-light conditions. Leveraging OIS and a large main sensor, it employs advanced image processing techniques to brighten scenes, reduce noise, and improve overall clarity. Like other devices, we have a Super Macro Mode on the HONOR 200 Pro. What makes it unique is that it uses the ultra-wide lens for macro photography, allowing us to focus as close as 2.5 cm with autofocus functionality. The best part is that we don't need to manually switch modes; the camera automatically intelligently switches to the 12MP lens and activates the macro mode whenever we get close to an object.SUPER MACRO
Thinking of the social media stories with cinematic effects and next-level transitions, which make it more engaging and visually appealing. But either being unable to create or editing consumes a lot more time! Thankfully, HONOR 200 Pro has a one-click solution for all your needs.STORY MODE
HONOR 200 Pro camera UI has a dedicated Story mode, that further contains "One Take" and "Scenes", two different modes to take the video creation to another level. Let's take a look at both:
- One take - As the name suggests, everything gets done in a single take. You just need to click on the capture button once and leave the rest of the things on its intelligence. There are 17 different modes/scenarios inside this to best suit your needs. These 17 modes have different sets of time limits ranging from 15 seconds to 30 seconds. With just one click it starts recording and automatically adds filters, transitions, frames, stickers, and other effects intelligently after recording to make the output interactive. In case you want some changes in the final output, that is also possible with the inbuilt video editor.
- Scenes - This mode offers nine distinct scene options, that allow users to record the video in 3-6 parts based on the selected scene and later combine it for a better transition and cinematic effects. Each part comes with a predetermined time limit and clear guidance, to ease the recording process.
In fact, with the HONOR 200 Series, we can now do the same in the gallery app even after recording the video.
This feature helps you to do the same as above with pre-captured photos and videos with the help of AI. The HONOR 200 Pro simplifies video creation with its one-click Instant Movie feature. Powered by AI, it automatically selects the most captivating moments from our selected photos and videos, transforming them into engaging videos. Whether capturing special events or everyday moments, this feature allows us to effortlessly create high-quality videos with just a single click.AI Instant Movie
The HONOR 200 Pro's photo library introduces the Memories feature, powered by AI to surprise us with delightful moments. This intelligent function creates personalized themes, offering a unique touch to our photo collections.
