The HONOR 200 Pro is packed with a massive 5200mAh 2nd Gen Silicon-Carbon battery, promising excellent backup and rapid charging capabilities with 100W wired SuperCharge and 66W wireless charging support.

Today, we’ll dive into the next thread of our series: an in-depth review of the battery that goes beyond the specs. This thread covers everything from charging with the 100W SuperCharge adapter to a comprehensive battery drain test based on real-world usage patterns. This will provide an accurate and thorough analysis of the HONOR 200 Pro's real-life battery performance.

To start, we'll fuel up the device from 10% to 100% and then put it through a series of real-life scenarios to see how the battery performs during discharge. So, without further ado, let's dive!

🔋 CHARGING 10% to 100% 🔋
I plugged the device to fuel it up with the 100W SuperCharge adapter at 11:29 PM at 10% battery. After just 15 minutes, by 11:45 PM, the battery had already reached 52%. At the 30-minute mark, it was up to 84%, and in just 40 minutes, it hit 97%. These speeds are impressive and align closely with what the brand promises. Screenshots for the same are attached below.

However, I did notice a small optimization issue. From 97% to full charge (100%), it took an additional 15 minutes. This appears to be a bug, as sometimes the device charges quickly all the way to 100%, while at other times, this delay occurs after reaching 97%. I've reported this feedback to the team, and I expect it will be resolved with a future software update.

A Few Important Points To Keep In Mind Before Starting The Battery Drain:
  1. The phone is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi and maintains a 5G SA network connection throughout the process.
  2. The screen refresh rate is set to Dynamic (up to 120Hz) throughout the process
  3. The dark mode is OFF
  4. Smart Resolution is Enabled
  5. Brightness is set to 50-55% throughout the process
  6. Performance mode and Power Saving mode are turned OFF throughout the process
  7. The Smart Charge and Smart Battery Capacity options are turned off, while the "Stay Connected While Sleep" toggle is switched on.

◾️ Important Note: On HONOR devices, the default battery settings, along with the Digital Wellbeing feature, track and display Screen On Time (SOT) on a daily basis, resetting at midnight rather than after each full charge. This means that the SOT is reset every midnight. Additionally, while Digital Wellbeing tracks only the overall SOT of applications, the system’s default tracker monitors everything, including both app usage and other activities.

Binge-watching has become a common pastime nowadays, especially while traveling. But how long can you enjoy your favorite shows and movies on OTT apps with the HONOR 200 Pro on a single charge? Let's find out.

Watching a full movie like "The Covenant," which runs for 2 hours at 1080p (FHD) quality on Amazon Prime Video, drained 9% of the battery after a full charge. This suggests 0.075% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can watch videos on OTT platforms for approximately 1333 minutes or 22 hours nonstop.

Voice Call
A few like a long chit-chat over a call, here's a calling test for you all.

  • Battery Drop and Time Spent - 1.5% Drain in 30 minutes
A 30-minute voice call on the earpiece drained 1.5% of the battery, which means 3% drain per hour. This suggests 0.05% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can do voice calling for approximately 2000 minutes or 33 hours nonstop.

Gaming (BGMI)
Because the HONOR 200 Pro is packed with a powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, backed up by the RF Enhanced Chip HONOR C1+ for improved connectivity. It's very obvious, you want to enjoy heavy graphics and battery-intensive games like BGMI. So, here's a BGMI gameplay drain test to see how the device handles it!

  • Battery Drop and Time Spent - 14% Drop in 1 Hour

  • Audio Over Bluetooth Neckband at approx 45% Volume
Playing the BGMI game for 1 hour at Smooth-Extreme graphic and frame rate settings (60fps) drained 14% of the battery. This suggests 0.23% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can play such heavy games for approximately 428 minutes or 7.14 hours nonstop.
In terms of thermals, the device only reaches 37°C, increasing by just 3°C from its starting temperature of 34°C, which is impressive and quite unexpected. Thanks to its super-large stainless steel biomimetic vapor cooling system, covering an area of 5,564 mm², along with a total heat dissipation area of 36,881 mm², ensuring exceptional thermal management.

Note: Before moving ahead, I took a 15-minute break to allow the device to return to its normal state after performing a heavy task. This helps ensure the accuracy of the test results.
Recording 1080p 60fps Video
Capturing moments as videos and photos is one of the best things we can do with a smartphone camera. And when it comes to the HONOR 200 Pro's camera, preserving memories with exceptional quality is an absolute must.

  • Start and End Battery Temperature - 36°C - 45°C
While recording video at 1080p 60fps, the battery drains by 12% in just 30 minutes, which equates to 24% per hour. This translates to a drain rate of 0.4% per minute. Based on this, a fully charged battery could support continuous video recording at this quality for approximately 250 minutes, or about 4.16 hours.
Note: You can record video for a longer duration than this in cooler environments. The higher battery drain observed is due to the device heating up while testing in hotter conditions.
In terms of thermals, the device reaches 45°C after a gain of 9°C. Most phones stopped video recording by giving an overheating warning at this temperature, but that's not the case for 200 Pro. This device will not interrupt your important shots even on heating.

Nowadays, social media is an integral part of our daily lives, with many people becoming addicted to short-form videos known by different names across various platforms. Let's explore the HONOR 200 Pro's battery endurance with this common social media usage.

While scrolling Insta Reels for 30 minutes, it drained 5% of the battery, which means 10% drain per hour. This suggests 0.16% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can scroll social handles for approximately 600 minutes or 10 hours nonstop.

When it comes to content consumption, YouTube is the most widely used and accessible platform. Let's test the battery endurance while streaming YouTube videos using different modes and functions to see how it performs.

Streaming online video on YouTube for 30 minutes at 4K (2160p) resolution when connected over wifi, drained 4% of the battery, which means 8% drain per hour. This suggests 0.13% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can watch 4K videos for approximately 750 minutes or 12.5 hours nonstopObviously, you can watch for much longer durations if you opt for a lower resolution.

2) YouTube with "Video Enhancer" Setting ON:

Streaming online video on YouTube with the "Video Enhancer" feature ON for 30 minutes at 4K (2160p) resolution when connected over wifi, drained 5% of the battery, which means 10% drain per hour. This suggests 0.16% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can watch 4K videos with Video Enhancer on for approximately 600 minutes or 10 hours nonstop.

Browsing Google Chrome for 30 minutes with 6 different tabs drained 5% of the battery, which means 10% drain per hour. This suggests 0.16% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can browse it for approximately 600 minutes or 10 hours nonstop.

NoteWith just 40% of battery drain, we achieved an impressive Screen On Time (SOT) of approximately 6 hours, even with heavy usage. This is an outstanding performance.

Standby Drain with AOD
We've all experienced the annoyance of standby battery drain on our devices. Let's test the HONOR 200 Pro's standby performance to see if it suffers from the same issue or if it maintains the excellent battery efficiency that HONOR devices are known for.

  • End time and Battery - 01:31 PM with 33% Battery
  • Battery Drop and Time Spent - 5% Drop in 6hrs 6min
  • Full-Screen AOD (Always On Display) is turned ON
With Full Screen Always-On-Display (AOD) ON (Tap to Show mode), on standby, it drained 5% of the battery in 6 hours, which means 0.83% drain per hour. This suggests 0.01% drain per minute, hence 100% battery lasts for approximately 7228 minutes or 120 hours or for 5 days nonstop on Standby with Full-Screen AOD ON.  And believe me, this is an excellent standby backup. In fact, I'm getting even better standby performance when I turn off WiFi (internet), AOD, and other non-essential features.

Music
Sometimes we use smartphone speakers to enjoy music with friends, and the HONOR 200 Pro offers dual stereo speakers to elevate that experience. Let's test the battery endurance while using the device's speakers for music playback.

Playing music with the phone speaker at 100% volume and Full-Screen AOD ON (Tap to Show mode) for 30 minutes drained 5% of the battery, which means 10% drain per hour. This suggests 0.16% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can play music with AOD on for approximately 600 minutes or 10 hours nonstop.

YouTube on 5G Network
Not everyone has access to Wi-Fi everywhere, so checking battery endurance over a 5G cellular network for video streaming is also crucial. Here’s a test for the same.

  • Resolution - 4K (2160p)
  • Start and End Battery Temperature - 36°C - 36°C (No Change)
  • Important Note - Only for this test Data is switched over the Cellular 5G network from Wi-Fi
Streaming online video on YouTube over the "5G Cellular Network" for 30 minutes at 4K (2160p) resolution, drained 4% of the battery, which means 8% drain per hour. This suggests 0.13% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can watch 4K videos on a 5G network for approximately 750 minutes or 12.5 hours nonstop. Essentially, the battery drain rate is the same over both Wi-Fi and cellular networks. Kudos to the optimization!

  • Audio Over Bluetooth Neckband at approx 40% Volume
Let's end our battery drain test with this BGMI gameplay at a 90fps frame rate. Playing the BGMI game for 30 minutes at 90fps drained 11% of the battery, which means 22% drain per hour. This suggests 0.36% drain per minute, hence with a 100% battery, we can play such heavy games at 90fps for approximately 272 minutes or 4.5 hours nonstop.

At the end of the drain test, we achieved an impressive screen on time of 7 hours and 17 minutes, even with extremely heavy use, and still had 12% battery remaining.
With the remaining 12% battery, you can still get:
  • 1 hour 28 minutes on normal mode
  • 1 hour 39 minutes on Power Saving mode
  • 4 hours 10 minutes on Ultra Power Saving mode for emergencies
However, I chose to push it further and drained it to 10%, achieving a total of 7 hours and 24 minutes of screen-on time. If you're wondering why Digital Wellbeing shows slightly less screen-on time compared to the actual usage, I’ve already explained the reason above.

MY VERDICT
I am genuinely impressed with the HONOR 200 Pro! Devices with such high-end specs and hardware usually struggle with battery life due to the power demands of advanced components. However, the HONOR 200 Pro excels in providing excellent battery backup without compromising performance, thanks to its 5200mAh Silicon-Carbon battery technology and the remarkable optimization by the HONOR team.

As a moderate user, my typical phone use includes making calls, engaging on social media platforms like Telegram, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Twitter, occasionally streaming videos, and listening to music. Yeah, the excellent camera capabilities of the HONOR 200 Pro also force me to take more photos than I usually would. While I rarely play games, the battery life of the HONOR 200 Pro comfortably lasts between 1 to 1.5 days along with approx 8 hours of SOT with this usage pattern for me.

If you're a moderate user like me, you can expect similar battery life. For very light users with minimal usage, the battery can easily last up to two full days. On the other hand, extremely heavy users who engage in gaming and other graphics-intensive activities will still get nearly a full day's use, unlike some devices that might run out of battery by midday. You can also estimate battery performance based on your specific usage patterns using the data provided above.
