Today I bring to you about the all-new app store by Phonepe called Indus App Store developed as a competition against the world-famous Google Play store.

In September of 2023, Phonepe invited Android app developers to publish their apps on their emerging platform and after 6 months, it launched the app Store for the public.
The Indus app store has over 2 lakh mobile apps across different categories, and they plan to increase the number of apps to about 5 lakhs by the end of the year.

Some of the prominent features of the Indus store app:

• Focus on regional languages: The app Store interface and contents are available in 12 Indian languages making it accessible to a larger population of the country.
• Discovery of apps: The app Store uses a video-led discovery format, which helps users discover new apps and games more easily.
• Developer friendly: The app Store has no listing fees as of now for developers and allows them to use third-party payment gateways for in-app billing.
• Security: The app Store uses multiple security layers to protect users from malware and other threats.
• Support: The app store provides 24 x 7 dedicated app support via chatbot and email 
• Mobile number login: Indus app store will offer mobile number-based login system which will make it easier for consumers without email to login and install their required apps.

The Indus app Store is still in its early stages but has potential to become a major player in the Indian app market.  With its focus on regional languages and developer-friendly policies, it could attract a large number of users. The Indus app store is currently available on their website for consumers to download and install manually.
