2. In this context, 'Dus' represents the ten heads of Ravana, embodying evil, while 'hara' signifies defeat or eradication. In the northern and western regions of India, Dussehra is celebrated in reverence to Lord Rama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The festivities often include performances of Ramlila, theatrical adaptations of the Ramayana and Ramcharitmanas, presented by various theatre groups at outdoor gatherings.
3. Furthermore, Dussehra is recognized as Vijayadashami, commemorating the slaying of the demon Mahishasura by Goddess Durga on the tenth day of Navratri.
