Guru ka Tal is a historical Sikh pilgrimage site dedicated to the memory of the ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. It is located near Sikandra in Agra. The Gurudwara was built on the spot where Guru Tegh Bahadur offered himself for arrest to Aurangzeb, the Mughal Emperor. Every year, many devotees gather here to pay homage to the great Sikh guru, who was martyred with his followers for the freedom to practice one's faith. This historic structure dates back to the 17th century. Originally, it was a reservoir built in 1610 AD during the reign of Emperor Jehangir to collect and conserve rainwater in Agra. The water from the reservoir was used for irrigation during the dry season. The reservoir was adorned with stone carvings. It is believed that this is where Guru Tegh Bahadur laid down his arms to offer himself for arrest to Aurangzeb. The Gurudwara, known as Guru Ka Taal, was built in the 1970s through the contributions and efforts of Sant Baba Sadhu Singhji "Mauni".
