Hello All!
OpenAI has just introduced a new Advanced Voice Mode for ChatGPT, making its AI chatbot even better at handling voice conversations. This update, available for ChatGPT Plus and Team members, offers more natural and real-time chats, improved emotional understanding, and five fresh voices to choose from.
The feature runs on GPT-4o, a model that can handle text, images, and audio, allowing for quicker replies and more meaningful interactions. You can also jump in and interrupt the chatbot at any time, and it will pick up on your emotions during the conversation.
Custom Voices and Personalization
The new Advanced Voice Mode lets you customize the chatbot's replies based on your preferences and past conversations, thanks to Custom Instructions and Memory features. Plus, five new voices have been added—Arbor, Maple, Sol, Spruce, and Vale—joining the four existing ones: Breeze, Juniper, Cove, and Ember.
Availability
OpenAI is gradually making Advanced Voice Mode available to all ChatGPT Plus and Team users. Enterprise and Edu users will get it next week. You’ll see a pop-up message when it’s ready for you.
Future Updates and Regional Restrictions
Video and screen-sharing features aren’t available right now but will be added in a future update. Advanced Voice Mode is currently not available in the EU, UK, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein.
Safety and Testing
OpenAI has tested safety thoroughly, working with outside experts from different languages and regions. They’ve also shared a system card for GPT-4 that explains their efforts to make Advanced Voice Mode safe and user-friendly.
With Advanced Voice Mode, OpenAI wants to make chatting with their AI feel more natural and engaging. So what is you take on this?
