Did you know
what was the first home video game console?

The Magnavox Odyssey was the first home videogame console. It was released in 1972, creating history as the first device to allow people to play video games at home. Before it's launch, video games were exclusively available in arcades.

In comparison to today's technology, the Odyssey was a simple machine. It did not have sound, color graphics, or the ability to save your progress. The graphics for the games were simple, made up of only a few squares and lines. Still, it was groundbreaking because it allowed people to interact with their television screens in new way.

This console inspired future gaming systems such as the Atari and Nintendo, which eventually took video games to new heights. The Magnavox Odyssey is not as well-known as later released consoles, but it created the foundation for the gaming world we know today.
