So when a single model strikes a chord with people, it’s generally pretty special. The best-selling models of all time are mostly ones that have been around for decades, with no sign of sales slowing down either. However, they're uncanny ability to evolve in order to stay current and competitive from generation to generation is very impressive. These highly trusted nameplates, neither exotic nor rare, won't get any car enthusiast's heart pumping, but in all likelihood, you own or know someone who does. 
Since many of the best-selling cars are still in demand today, the rankings will remain relatively stable from year to year. Like that, we have the world's bestseller car, the "Toyota Corolla."

History

The Toyota Corolla manufactured and marketed globally by the Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation. Introduced in 1966, the Corolla was the best-selling car worldwide by 1974 and has been one of the best-selling cars in the world since then.
The name Corolla is part of Toyota's naming tradition of using names derived from the Toyota Crown for sedans, with "corolla" Latin for "small crown"
The first-generation Corolla was introduced in November 1966 with the new 1100 cc K pushrod engine. Early models were mostly rear-wheel drive, while later models were front-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive versions have also been produced, and it has undergone several major redesigns.

The Toyota Corolla was the first automobile in history to reach sales of 30 million. In 2005, the 30 millionth Toyota Corolla was sold. That's the World Record

The 50 million milestone was reached in 2021. However, the model type has been different over the years. It's amazing that the Toyota Corolla marked those sales benchmarks and is still winning the trust of consumers. The saying fits with the Toyota Corolla, i.e., "Old is Gold."
