Honor Magic Vs 3 Debuts in China with Curved Display, Periscope Camera, and More

At an event held in China yesterday, Honor unveiled its two new foldable phones – the Magic Vs 3 and Magic V3. These models succeed last year’s Magic Vs2 and Magic V2, boasting a new design and significantly upgraded specifications. They enter the market as competitors to the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 6, OnePlus Open, OPPO Find N3 (review), and more. This article explores what the Honor Magic Vs 3 offers out of the box.
Honor Magic Vs 3 Specifications
The Honor Magic Vs 3 features a curved AMOLED display with thin bezels. The front display measures 6.43 inches with a resolution of 2,376 x 1,060 pixels and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. Internally, it has a 7.8-inch panel with a resolution of 2,344 x 2,156 pixels and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. Both screens support a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate and HDR Vivid. Design-wise, the Honor Magic Vs 3 is remarkably slim, measuring 9.7mm thick when folded and just 4.65mm when opened, making it similar in size to a candy-bar phone. It weighs only 229 grams. The back panel features a protruding rectangular camera island available in Black and Silver, giving it a dual-tone look. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button. The foldable phone is equipped with Honor’s Luban Titanium hinge and shield steel, ensuring both durability and lightness.

Camera and Optics
The Honor Magic Vs 3 is equipped with a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 40MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8MP periscope unit with 5x optical and 50x digital zoom. Both the primary and periscope lenses support OIS. For selfies, the phone has 16MP and 8MP sensors on the external and internal screens, respectively.

Hardware and Performance
The Honor Magic Vs 3 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Additional features include RF enhancement and a security chip for stable connectivity and privacy protection. The device runs on MagicOS 8.0, offering features like split-screen functionality and more.

Pricing and Availability
The Honor Magic Vs 3 is available in Qilian Snow, Tundra Green, and Velvet Black colors. Pricing starts at CNY 6,999 ($963) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB configurations are priced at CNY 7,699 ($1,060) and CNY 8,699 ($1,198), respectively. The foldable phone will go on sale starting July 19.
