Happy News to everyone who loves music and interested in learning it! Duolingo, widely recognized for its language-learning app, has partnered with instrument brand Loog to introduce a beginner-friendly portable piano. Priced at $249, the Loog x Duolingo Piano is designed to complement Duolingo’s gamified music course, which was launched last year.
This keyboard is a co-branded version of the portable digital piano Loog released on Kickstarter last year, featuring a similar wooden design, 37 keys, and a volume control knob. Aside from the green color, there are subtle aesthetic differences. For instance, Duolingo’s version has a lighter wooden finish on the knob and includes a matching phone stand for following music lessons while playing.
Both models share a key feature: velocity-sensitive keys, which adjust the volume based on how hard or softly the keys are pressed, allowing for dynamic playing.
The Loog x Duolingo Piano measures 18.9 inches (480.8mm) in length and weighs 3.64 pounds (1.65kg). It features built-in stereo speakers and a rechargeable battery that provides up to eight hours of playtime on a full charge. The back of the device includes ports for an octave shifter and sustain pedal, a USB-C jack for charging and MIDI transmission, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for private practice sessions.
Duolingo's new music course currently focuses solely on piano lessons, compatible with any keyboard—not just the latest Loog collaboration. While the Loog x Duolingo Piano brings beginner-friendly flashcards to the table, its real charm lies in the compact design, small enough to tuck into a drawer when you're done playing. However, keep in mind, this is a preorder, and the actual shipment won’t arrive until November.
