Many of our youngsters can identify themselves with 5G and 4G because of the enhancements they brought with them. But there is more! Each generation of networks has brought a significant milestone in the development of mobile communications, each offering significant advancements in speed, capacity, and technology.   #1G (First Generation)- Launched: Late 1970s to early 1980s- Technology: Analog- Features: Voice-only services- Example: Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS)    #2G (Second Generation)- Launched: Early 1990s- Technology: Digital- Features: Improved call quality, SMS (text messaging), and basic data services (GPRS and EDGE)- Standards: GSM , CDMA  (How many of you remember that "कर लो दुनिया मुट्ठी में" slogan?)

#3G (Third Generation)- Launched: Early 2000s- Technology: Digital, packet-switching for data- Features: Higher data speeds (up to a few Mbps), allowing mobile internet access, video calls, and MMS.- Standards: UMTS , HSPA

#4G (Fourth Generation)- Launched: Late 2000s to early 2010s- Technology: IP-based- Features: High-speed mobile broadband (up to 1 Gbps), HD video streaming, mobile gaming, and VoLTE(Voice over IP).- Standards: LTE (Long-Term Evolution), LTE-Advanced This is the generation when Jio born!   # 5G (Fifth Generation)- Launched: 2019 onward- Technology: Advanced IP and millimeter wave technology- Features: Ultra-fast data speeds (up to 10 Gbps), extremely low latency, IoT (Internet of Things) and AR/VR applications. We are living in this Era as of now! #6G (Sixth Generation - Future)- Expected: 2030s- Technology: Advanced AI, ultra-low latency, integration with satellite networks- Potential Features: Speeds up to 1 Tbps, more seamless communication between physical and digital worlds, holographic communications, and expanded AI applications. Each generation has improved mobile communication, leading to more reliable connections and more diverse use cases. How do you remember the old generations of mobile communication? I still remember paying for voice calls and doing recharge for concession rates!
