One of the best natural ways to improve mental wellbeing is exercising. While exercising, our bodies release chemicals called endorphins and serotonin. Endorphins are sometimes referred to as happy hormones as they block pain and bring a feeling of calmness and happiness. Serotonin causes improved mood and better sleep. Altogether, these chemicals work together as part of a natural mood boost, it is for this reason why many people leave a gymnasium feeling refreshed and happy after exercising.
Apart from chemical effects, there are other benefits that can make us happy from doing exercises. For example, exercise decreases our pressure and provides us with time to forget our daily troubles. It could be a period or time that we focus on ourselves, body relaxation, and forgetting about our responsibilities for some time. Eventually, exercise also boosts our self-confidence since one feels stronger, healthier, and self-capable.
Studies have proven that those who exercise regularly tend to be less anxious and avoid getting depressed. Even moderate activity, like walking or light stretching, can improve one's mood. Additionally, physical exercises often improve our sleep, which has a significant influence on our mental health.
